Job Description

Purpose of consultancy

To provide analytical and technical views to identify Unitaid’s strategy and funding priorities, identify/assess opportunities for strategic grant implementation, and provide strategic input on the design of Unitaid’s grants as well as grant implementation. 

The consultant will design analyses on health products and their markets, cutting edge market impact/market-shaping approaches, and health systems to help guide the development of global health interventions.

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Advanced university degree in business/management economics, or public health.  

Desirable:

  • First level degree or a diploma/certificate in a discipline related to healthcare product access (medicine, pharmacy, product development, product design, etc.).

Experience

Essential:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in global development or healthcare industry with a focus on developing access strategies or project design for interventions in public or global health.
  • At least 3 years of experience in health products analysis, such as: analysis of markets and competitive intelligence; forecasting or market models; financial modelling; analysis of design/impact of market-based interventions. 
  • Experience working in designing products/solutions for use, in resource-limited settings.

Desirable:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or diagnostics industry (e.g., market access, regulatory, medical affairs, intellectual property).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting design and application of innovative financing mechanisms or market-based interventions, including volume guarantees, advanced market commitments, R&D success rewards, basic R&D lump-sum funds, subsidies, etc.
  • Experience working with an international / UN based organization.

 Skills/Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of the disease landscape/s related to malaria, child survival and RMNCH.
  • Technology literate.
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytic skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
