Kisii University, situated in Kisii, is a publicly-funded academic institution. The university’s history dates back to 1965 when it was established as a training college for primary school teachers. The County Council of Gusii donated a 61-acre parcel of land for the construction of the campus. The college functioned as a primary teachers’ training institution until 1983 when it was elevated to a secondary teachers’ college offering Diploma programs.
